The PREMIS Data Dictionary for Preservation Metadata is the international standard for metadata to support the preservation of digital objects and ensure their long-term usability. This is developed by an international team of experts and implemented in digital preservation projects around the world.
Dublin Core is sponsoring a webinar to give a brief overview over why digital preservation metadata is needed. The webinar is titled, “Digital Preservation Metadata and Improvements to PREMIS in Version 3.0” and is scheduled for May 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
Examples of digital preservation metadata will show how PREMIS can be used to capture this metadata and illustrate some of the changes that will be available later this year. The PREMIS Data Dictionary is currently in version 2.2. A new major release 3.0 is due out this summer.
The presenter is Dr. Angela Dappert, a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Portsmouth. She has widely researched and published on digital preservation.
