Digital design has morphed over the past decade. The focus has shifted from the technological side to the human side ( which in and of itself seems oxymoronic). This is proved by the evertrusted Google search results for terms like “information architecture”, “user interface”, and “usability”, which are declining in number. In contrast, search results for terms like “user experience” and “customer experience” are higher than ever. CMS Wire brought this news to our attention in their article, “Trends in Digital Design.”
As always, context is key. The shift in about how people use things. Digital assets are becoming a key part of the data stored and requiring findability. Vendors are working hard to improve the usability of their DAM systems. The end goal is to help users improve creativity, collaboration, communications, and overall workflow.
