Dell and EMC are united and will be called EMC Dell. With Dell’s focus on modernizing the data center, it seems appropriate that this new hybrid would focus on cloud storage. Forbes brought us this information in their article, “Dell Technologies Outlines Storage Priorities.”
EMC introduced a new member of its all-flash portfolio with the EMC Unity family of storage arrays targeted to small and medium-size IT deployments. Supporting their established enterprise storage systems, this product is designed to help customers make an affordable and simple transition from hard disk drive to flash memory and supports file and block access in a 2U footprint.
Organizations need to store and access files over time and have the ability to destroy the data after a certain period of time has elapsed. With the growth of data, along with the added pressure to make records management user-friendly, many organizations are looking for outside help and alternatives, like cloud storage.
