To be as helpful as possible to those in the fields of taxonomy, indexing, ontology, archiving, etc., we are sharing with our readers any career opportunities that we find. Even if you are not in the market for a career move, it is always good to stay on top of what is available and how the fields are evolving.

Cycorp out of Austin, Texas is looking for an Ontologist. Applicants will need to be able to introspect on how we’re all able to answer the questions we can answer, articulate that chain of reasoning clearly, generalize your line of reasoning so it applies as widely as possible, and express each of those general rules of thumb in a formal logical language.

Intrigued yet? Cycorp ontologists have a variety of backgrounds. Some have their doctorates in Philosophy, Linguistics, or Computer Science, but no particular educational background or degree is required. Some experience in practical automated deduction, natural language production and understanding, and/or practical programming experience (we use mostly Java, Lisp and the CycL logical language) is appreciated. Learn more about this unique opportunity here.

If you are looking to change positions in the new year, good luck on your search.
