Unstructured data is ordinary information not in a formal structure. The rate of growth is not ordinary. Unstructured data is growing at an unprecedented rate resulting in new approaches being considered in managing massive amounts of digital data. Forbes brought this news to our attention in their article, “Artificial Intelligence In Digital Storage.”

There are several factors that are feeding the problem of volume. Images with higher resolution, videos with higher frame rate, and the Internet of Things lead to about a 56% annual increase in this type of data each year. This makes it challenging to find what you need, when you need it.

Various technologies under the general name of artificial intelligence (AI) can provide options to organize the volumes of unstructured data. We live in a world where people have come to expect instant gratification. This is no different in search.
