Access Innovations, Inc. recently worked with the American Society for Clinical Oncology, Inc. (ASCO®) to help the Society enhance its search for more than 250,000 pieces of content stored across 20 different content management systems (CMS) platforms.

To produce more targeted and accurate results for internal and external users and ultimately allow personalization and automated curation of various sites, products, services and advertising based on standardized content characteristics, Access Innovations, Inc. created six taxonomies and the ASCO Session Recommender to sort conference data. The ASCO Session Recommender leverages existing member profile data supplemented with additional information supplied by the user via a short questionnaire. This is used to craft individual profiles, which generate recommendations about which conference sessions the attendee is likely to find the most valuable, thus saving them the time of sifting through over 200 sessions.

“This engagement between Access Innovations and ASCO is an excellent use case for the Data Harmony software,” said Bob Kasenchak, Director of Business Development for Access Innovations. “To take this much content and not only make it accessible, but leverage it to make conference-goers’ lives easier, is highly important to our mission of enriching data to save organizations and their users time and money.”

ASCO deployed the Session Recommender at its 2017 Annual Meeting, which brought together more than 30,000 oncology professionals from around the world to discuss state-of-the-art treatment modalities, new therapies, and ongoing conversations in the oncology field.
