The Association of American Publishers (AAP) is celebrating World Intellectual Property Day – today, April 26, 2018. The World Intellectual Property Organization and partner industries throughout the world celebrates the theme: Powering Change: Women in Innovation and Creativity. This year’s campaign celebrates the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage of the women who are driving change in our world and shaping our common future.
World Intellectual Property Day was created to increase awareness and promote education about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
Powering change is, of course, what publishers are all about. Women not only author a variety of important and popular works, they are key to every part of publishing in both local and global markets. More than ever before, women are taking up leadership roles and making their voices heard in the science, technology, business and the arts.
Join the conversation using #worldipday and share stories about the females who are powering change near you.
