The Charleston Library Conference is an annual event where hundreds of librarians, vendors, and publishers gather in Charleston, South Carolina to discuss issues of importance to them. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. The 2018 Theme is Oh wind – if winter comes, can spring be far behind?
This event began in 1980 and has grown from 20 participants in 1980 to almost 2,000 in 2017. This year Access Innovations will be facilitating the concurrent workshop, “”University Metadata and Retrieval: Updating the Library Cataloging Process.”
Two confirmed keynote speakers are Annette Thomas of Clarivate Analytics and Ruth Okediji from Harvard University. Both are alumni from the Charleston Library Conference in previous years.
The event is scheduled for November 7-9, 2018 and the complete schedule of keynotes and workshops is available here. Of significant importance is the deadline for an early bird discount – September 14, 2018.
