Intelligent content doesn’t mean multi-syllabic words that you need a dictionary to decipher. It is an “approach to the management of content as a business asset that includes content that is modular, structured, reusable, format-free, and semantically rich.” The result is discoverable content that is reconfigurable and adaptable for its creators. CMS Wire brought this interesting information to our attention in their article, “What is Intelligent Content and How Can It Help Marketers?”
Intelligent content moves away from humans needing to touch every piece of content for each instance of use. Instead, intelligent content moves toward an advanced publishing process that leans on data and metadata, coordinates content efforts across departmental silos, and makes smart use of technology – including, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Don’t confuse intelligent content with content marketing, nor is intelligent content the same as smart content. Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content. Smart content is personalized to the characteristics of the viewer.
