Many information technology (IT) professionals believe digital transformation is key to an organization’s survival. But this can’t happen in a vacuum. Significant help from outside sources is needed. This interesting topic came to us from Digital Insurance in their article, “Most firms see digital transformation as critical, but many need help.”

The top investments in technology to support digital transformation are focused on migrating to the cloud and IT security. This from a recent survey of 100 IT professionals worldwide.

There is also a significant emphasis on technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Digital transformation is the profound transformation of business and organizational activities. Processes, competencies and models are transformed to fully leverage the changes and opportunities of a mix of digital technologies. It is important to take into account their accelerating impact across society in a strategic and prioritized way, while keeping present and future shifts in mind.

While digital transformation is predominantly used in a business context, it also impacts other organizations such as governments, public sector agencies and non-profit organizations.
