Technology continues to evolve. Entrepreneurs and vendors continue to explore new options and features to enhance business processes and lives. CIO brought this information to us in their article, “Tableau adds natural language interface, streamlines data prep.”

Enterprises seeking to further democratize analytics through self-service business intelligence tools will be happy to hear that vendors are working to intersect data visualization and natural language processing (NLP).

NLP is a branch of artificial intelligence that helps computers understand, interpret and manipulate human language.

Tableau Software’s 2019.1 update was recently released and is the latest to move in this direction, enabling staff to query data using natural language, and offers a new subscription option for self-service data preparation.

The important part is to ensure the questions that are asked are as natural as possible. The results will be much more useful. That simplicity will make Tableau accessible to a new audience as well as provide the company with an alternative to visual-based queries for data exploration, data analysis and discovery.
