Peer Review Week (PRW) will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year. #PeerRevWk19 is scheduled for  September 16-20, 2019. The Scholarly Kitchen brought this news to us in their article, “Peer Review Week Is Five!

PRW is a global event celebrating the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining scientific quality. The event brings together individuals, institutions, and organizations committed to sharing the central message that good peer review, whatever shape or form it might take, is critical to scholarly communications.

The first ever PRW grew out of a brainstorming conversation in August 2015 between ORCID and AAAS. That started a wider conversation about the need to regularly celebrate the importance of peer review to scholarly communications, with numerous other organizations expressing interest in participating.

Fast forward to this year, the PRW 2019 committee comprises over 40 individuals from 29 organizations worldwide. This year’s theme is “Quality in Peer Review”.

The web pages for 2019 will be updated regularly between now and Peer Review Week. Submit your plans for honoring and celebrating PRW by emailing the details (type of activity, description, date, registration details (if applicable), and contact information) to peerreviewweek@outlook.com by September 12, 2019, with the subject line Peer Review Week.
