Emerging technologies are finding new homes and new ways to improve our lives, both business and personal. Why shouldn’t they be used to make the world we live and work in safer? The Architect’s Newspaper brought this topic to our attention in their article, “How can new technologies make construction safer?”
Construction has long been one of the most dangerous environment in the United States, especially for employees. To stop accidents before they happen, construction companies are constantly looking for ways to engage employees in workplace safety. Some are now turning to emerging technologies. Various applications like virtual reality, drone photography, Internet of Things (IoT) tools, and machine learning have all found to be useful.
Developing models that enables virtual planning and communication have increased the accuracy of capture technologies and making them even more accurate. These models can be used to clearly plan daily tasks and then foresee challenges that might not have been obvious before.
As technology continues to evolve, the ever-growing construction industry will hopefully be not just more cost-efficient, but safer overall.
