When we usually refer to metadata with regard to video, we’re talking about all the textual information that accompanies a video and helps search engines better understand the content as well as helps users find a video on the internet. Metadata has long been one of the biggest time savers of video and film production. But how effectively it works depended on how good the data that went into it was in the first place. The playing field is now changing. This interesting topic came to us from Red Shark in their article, “Forget metadata, AI will eventually be the perfect way to search footage.”
With machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) now available, they could eventually provide the ultimate in fast and fluid searches for video. Products featuring AI are already entering the market. However, it is not perfect right out of the gate. AI technology needs training.
