Data is critical to organizations and their success. It is also an important part of education and school improvement. Data gives insight into what is successful, and what is not. This interesting information came to us from Education DIVE in their article, “It’s time to rethink how schools use data to implement social and emotional learning.“
But is the data being used properly and to its potential? School systems use data at the end of an initiative or a school year, after the work has been done. Why not look for predictions in data to drive the strategy and inform the initiative?
One area that has the potential for great benefits is the planning, implementation and continuous improvement of social and emotional learning.
By getting research and evaluation involved at an early stage you can look for answers to important questions, like “Where do we want to go?” and “Where are we now given where we have been?”
