Going to the movies isn’t exactly a priority for most people in these days of COVID-19. However, as Hollywood is navigating new waters like everyone else, technology is a key factor in the future of movies. National Herald brought this interesting information to our attention in their article, “Now AI may predict movie ratings in future.”

Researchers have demonstrated that artificial intelligence (AI) tools can apply rating to a movie’s content in a matter of seconds, based on the movie script and before a single scene is shot.

How can this type of approach allow movie executives the ability to design a movie rating in advance and as desired? It can certainly inform the making of appropriate edits on a script and before the shooting of a single scene. Using AI applied to scripts, they can effectively signal behaviors on violent acts, drug abuse and sexual content – those actions that are often the basis for a film’s ratings.
