Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning have become parts of our daily lives, and are in many ways an important source of change in people’s lives in the 21st century. Their impact is drastic and real. They make our lives easier, process data faster, enable live-saving technologies to connect, and they’re also being used for the social good. This interesting topic came to us from Business Standard in their article, “How AI, machine learning are being increasingly used to drive social good.”

Real-life examples of AI are already being applied. They range from diagnosing cancer to helping blind people navigate their surroundings, identifying victims of online sexual exploitation, and aiding disaster-relief efforts. AI is only part of a much broader tool kit of measures that can be used to tackle societal issues. For now, issues such as data accessibility and shortages of AI talent are the biggest challenges.
