There is an increasingly complicated relationship between the tech sector and global politics. It is important to remember that artificial intelligence (AI) is more than a tool or bargaining chip. Tech Crunch brought this topic to us in their article, “Artificial intelligence is already upending geopolitics.”
The rapid rate of AI technological development and the breadth of applications means AI systems are often being widely deployed without sufficient legal oversight or full consideration of their ethical impacts.
Technology has always shaped geopolitical power. Autonomous systems cannot be held responsible for actions in the world. There should always be a human or corporation who can be held accountable.
Most organizations have little visibility or knowledge of how AI systems make the decisions they do or how the results are being applied in various fields. Explainable AI allows users to comprehend and trust the results and output created by machine learning algorithms. “Explainable AI” is used to describe an AI model, its expected impact and potential biases. Explainability becomes critical when the results can have an impact on data security or safety.
