Access Innovations, Inc., provider of Data Harmony software solutions, is proud to announce they have contracted with the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) to refresh their taxonomy, re-index their database, and provide indexing services for new content as it is added.
AMPP is a new organization launched from a merger of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC). The original proposal was to refresh the NACE taxonomy and re-index the NACE database. After the merger, content from both organizations was combined into one database that has more scope than just the NACE database. The project has expanded to create a taxonomy that covers all the legacy content from both organizations and future AMPP content.
“It is a time-consuming challenge, but also extremely rewarding, to combine all the legacy documents from NACE and SSPC into one collection,” comments Mandy May, Director of Content Management at AMPP. “We look forward to working with the Access Innovations team on improving content search for our audience.”
“This project has been a fun venture,” said Samantha Lewis, Production Coordinator at Access Innovations. “AMPP’s Content Management team is working hard to get their data converted and standardized while we build the taxonomy. Working with legacy content from two organizations has been an interesting adventure, and I anticipate the result will be exciting.”
Both AMPP and Access Innovations are excited to continue the semantic journey over the next couple of years, updating the taxonomy and indexing as more data becomes accessible. New content from AMPP will be included in that journey and should provide insights into new avenues for metadata enrichment, further use of controlled vocabularies, and improvements to findability and discoverability of content.
