Genetic research has seen incredible advances in gene sequencing technologies in the past few years. In 2004, scientists completed the Human Genome Project, an ambitious project to sequence the human genome. Now, a person can get their genome sequenced within about 24 hours. Free Think brought this interesting information to us in their article, “How artificial intelligence is boosting crop yield to feed the world.”
Scientists began sequencing everything as they looked for cures for diseases and solutions for world crises, like hunger and poverty. Artificial intelligence (AI) was then utilized to start making them a reality.
One of those was a small group of researchers hoping to innovate in agriculture by using an algorithm that can identify genes that act at a fundamental level in crop metabolism. This is just the beginning but with more advances in gene editing and AI, the promises of the genetic revolution are finally starting to pay off.
Understanding how technology works is important. Explainable AI allows users to comprehend and trust the results and output created by machine learning algorithms. “Explainable AI” is used to describe an AI model, its expected impact and potential biases. Why is this important? Because the results can have an impact on data security or safety.
