It’s Peer Review Week 2022 and the topic today is about research and trust. The Scholarly Kitchen brought this interesting information to our attention in their article, “Does Trust in Research Begin with Trust in Peer Review?“
This year’s theme is “Research Integrity: Creating and Supporting Trust in Research”. The majority of researchers and the general public continue to have trust in research, there are also some signs that this trust may be diminishing.
The peer review process depends on the activities of editors, reviewers and authors for its success. Ensuring the integrity of the scientific record is relevant not only for researchers and academics but society at large. Researchers want to see how publishing decisions are made and want greater assurance that referees and editors act with integrity and without bias.
In the publishing industry, access to the data and trust in the results are key components.
