Data integrity is a broad discipline that informs how data is collected, stored, accessed, and used. The idea of integrity is a central element of many regulatory compliance frameworks, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It is the assurance that digital information is uncorrupted and can only be accessed or modified by those authorized to do so. This important topic came to us from Tech Republic in their article, “An overview of data integrity and its importance.”
Where traditionally, businesses focused on the vendor supply chain and the construction, sale, and distribution of physical products, today’s businesses typically prosper through the delivery of digital products and services. This transition demands enormous data capacity, the new raw material of the digital economy both in terms of storage and transfer.
Data integrity can be compromised through human error or worse yet malicious acts. Data that’s accidentally altered during the transfer from one device to another, for example, can be compromised or simply destroyed by hackers.
Keeping data safe and whole is important. Making data accessible is something we know. Whatever the search, it’s important to have a comprehensive search feature and quality indexing to reflect a standards-based taxonomy. Choose the right partner in technology, especially when your content is in their hands.
