There are a couple of educational opportunities in the works over the next few weeks from the Association of American Publishers (AAP) that might pique the interest of our followers.

The Free Guest Speaker Talk: Metadata 2020 is scheduled for Friday, June 15th at 10:15 – 11:00 a.m. (EST) at the McGraw-Hill/NY offices or via webinar.

Metadata 2020 is a collaboration that envisions a future with better metadata. Not only to increase the discoverability of content, but also benefiting the reputation management, attribution, discoverability, efficiency, data reproducibility and reusability.

The talk will feature guest speaker Jennifer Kemp, Head of Business Development at Crossref. You can register to hear the talks in-person or via teleconference by contacting Sara Pinto at spinto@publishers.org.

AAP is also hosting the Professional, Scholarly & Academic Books: The Basic Boot Camp on Friday, June 22nd at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is an intensive day-long seminar that will help you gain perspective on the book publishing process and the changes sweeping the professional and scholarly publishing industry.
