June 14, 2010 – According to Ingres, businesses with large amounts of data will be able to run business analytics in a fraction of the time taken on databases such as Oracle.
ComputerWeekly shared customers using the words “blindingly fast” and “astounded” in their article, “Ingres slashes database query time” Divulging the three secret keys to achieving such speed –capability to process multiple things at the same time, data going direct from hard disc to database, rather than via Ram, and it is column-based in the back end.
Ingres CEO Roger Burkhardt said,
“This ability to extract deep insights from detailed business data at the ‘speed of thought’ will empower all leaders to make better business decisions, from anywhere at any time.”
Increased query speed sounds good, but that doesn’t negate the need for a solid foundation created by thorough indexing.
