September 3, 2010 – Scarcely a week after Yahoo and Microsoft announced the transition of Yahoo searches to Microsoft Bing infrastructure, the two search engine giants have announced that the integration of the back end technology is complete. Satya Nadella, senior vice president of Microsoft Online Services Division said,
” Today I am happy to share that Bing is powering Yahoo’s search results in the U.S. and Canada”.
Quashing any speculations and criticisms that Yahoo was ready to exit the search engine field, Yahoo reported Wednesday that it was very much still in the game.
In a full report available here, Yahoo still promises to keep improving and innovating in the consumer facing layers of the search engine. The queries per second will temporarily be upped from 20qps, to 30qps. Along with the merger comes the transition of advertising accounts to Microsoft adCenter, as well as plans for transitioning Yahoo Search Marketing customers to the Microsoft system, just in time for the holiday season. Want to know how you can tell if your page is under the Microsoft search? Look for the words “powered by Bing” at the bottom of the page.
Searching made easier? Perhaps now is the time to take this affiliate marketing thing seriously.
