January 14, 2011 – The American Psychological Association recently announced the indexing of the 3 millionth record in their PsycINFO database.

We found this interesting news on Knowledge Speak in their article, “APA’s PsycINFO database exceeds 3 million records.” This is the result of over 8 decades of detailed abstracting and indexing of international literature in the field of psychology and its related disciplines. This is a great task that continues to prove worthwhile. The most recent million records have been added within just the last six years.

Dating back to 1927 as Psychological Abstracts, PsycINFO claims to have been an unparalleled resource for psychological and behavioral research throughout scholarly and professional fields. Expanded coverage also includes grants and sponsorships, tests and measures, supplemental materials, and publication history, as well as over 45 million cited references total within the database.
