February 25, 2011 – Hitachi Data Systems has released a new information management system that provides healthcare practitioners with patient information in one locale by using metadata more effectively.

Information Week brought this news to our attention in their article, “Hitachi Unveils Centralized Clinical Repository.” The Hitachi Clinical Repository transforms raw medical data and images into useful information, independent of its application source. This creates a metadata repository that gives healthcare providers a consolidated view of all of a patient’s relevant information.

Healthcare facilities face an enormous amount of medical information that contains metadata. By accessing this data, they can make better use of what it offers and use it to make better and faster decisions regarding patient care. This is something that benefits us all.
