Publishing Metadata Merges

February 2, 2011 – EBSCO Publishing and Mergent, Inc. are playing well together by allowing metadata from Mergent’s Annual Reports Database to be added to the Base Index of EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS).

NewsBreaks brought this to our attention in their post, “Mergent Metadata to be Added to EBSCO EDS.” Mergent’s Annual Reports Database includes more than 300,000 annual reports from global publicly traded companies and joins many other publishers and content partners who are working with EDS. The EDS Base Index represents content from approximately 20,000 providers in addition to metadata from another 70,000 book publishers. Managing data – especially of that quantity – requires a solid indexing process against a thorough and dynamic taxonomy. We ought to know; Access Innovations is known as a leader in database production, standards development, and creating and applying taxonomies.
