February 7, 2011 – How can a business set up an e-commerce platform that effectively utilizes taxonomies to contribute to its bottom line? In the third of a four-part webinar series co-hosted by Access Innovations and the American Society of Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T ), Jay Ven Eman will use a case-study approach to guide participants on how to effectively utilize taxonomies for web delivery, web search and even store layout.
Among topics to be discussed during the one-hour session are how to use controlled vocabularies in marketing, how to use a taxonomy to increase sales, how ontologies fit in e-commerce, and a preview of e-commerce on the semantic web.
The group will look at the GoodRelations retail ontology and how it works with a traditional e-commerce taxonomy. Google is now officially recommending GoodRelations for Rich Snippets.
In addition to this webinar, scheduled Thursday, Feb. 10 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, an additional webinar will take place on Feb. 17. The webinars are free for ASIS&T members and cost $49 per session for others. Online registrations are being accepted.
