New Tech Projects Get Funding from Harvard Library Lab

March 23, 2011 – The Harvard Library Lab has announced its first ten projects. Included in those projects is LibraryCloud, whose goal is to allow access to a wide range of Harvard Library metadata via an application programming interface (API) that would allow developers to create new apps based on the information.

Library Journal brought this news to our attention in their article, “Harvard Library Lab Funds First Round of New Tech Projects.” The Harvard Library Lab was established last July to fund new information-technology projects from Harvard students, faculty, and staff that aim to benefit libraries. These ten projects were chosen from proposals submitted between August and December 2010. The projects chosen run the gamut of technology and cost.

A second round of funding decisions regarding new projects will be announced in May 2011, with proposals due by April 1.
