Big is the Term of the Day

It has been said that business intelligence platforms from SIMO vendors are already antiquated. Strong statement, but look at the trends of “big” information management. Either big in terms of expensive or big in terms of the changes that they require within the organization.

We found this topic on Smart Data Collective in their article, “The Death of BIG Business intelligence.” Open standards and web-based solutions claim to reduce the cost of platform creations by using more open technologies to integrate them into the intranet. Treat the SIMO-based data and report repositories as services to be consumed via a web front-end that does not require those extra SIMO products.

Cost is important to everyone, big or small. Just don’t sacrifice quality in the process.
