Voice recognition software continues to evolve and with semantic technology available, that progress has increased. Nowhere has this been more evident than in mobile applications. But mastering the subtleties of human language remains beyond the reach of even our most sophisticated technology.

MSN brought this to our attention in their article, “Lost in Translation: Ford Teams With Nuance Communications to Master Human Language.” Automobile giant Ford promotes their SYNC system as a safety feature because it allows drivers to do stuff without taking their hands off the wheel. They recently announced a partnership with Nuance Communications to develop software that can not only recognize specific words/phrases but the intent of the person speaking them (sounds like semantic technology to me).
