Several months ago, Microsoft promised us Project Crescent, a new business intelligence tool designed for nontechnical users to create dynamic reports. Crescent was the centerpiece for another code-named technology, Denali, the upcoming release of SQL Server.

We found this news on Search SQL Server in their article, “Microsoft plays all the self-service BI angles with Project Crescent.” Microsoft recently showed off Crescent at the TechEd North America conference in Atlanta, and the response was good. Crescent’s goal was to deliver an easy-to-use tool that provides visually powerful data views. Even more impressive is the goal to have everything accessible within one or two clicks.
