Alfresco ECM has acquired semantic search capability by adding metadata detection and extraction technology from TEMIS.

This interesting news was found on IDM.net in their post, “Semantics boost for Afresco ECM.” TEMIS’ extraction product is called Luxid and is designed to automatically extract meaningful information (topics, entities, facts, sentiments, categories) from documents. When deployed, Luxid can be used, to enrich search facets, recommend related content, link to enterprise knowledge bases, feed Business Intelligence dashboards or trigger business work flows.

The value of an open source solution for ease of integration is easily recognizable. This new status of Luxid-Alfresco integration seeks to alleviate the need for time-consuming, manual metadata contribution. Automation is a worthy endeavor.
