The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS) released a draft code of practice for discovery services. The draft does make progress toward documenting the challenges faced, but falls short when it comes to handling the underlying reasons for those challenges.
This interesting news was found on the Library Journal in their article, “Unpacking the Draft Code of Practice for Discovery Services | Backtalk.” The art and value of abstracting and indexing services may be lost on those unaware of their value. This may seem unimportant until you remember that abstracting and indexing services are what have powered the creation of the metadata that is powering searching and finding in the first place.
