Many healthcare organization are going forward with their conversion plans, even with the Health and Human Services’ delay of the ICD-10 compliance deadline, originally scheduled for October 1, 2013.

This interesting information was found on Healthcare Payer News in their article, “A payer’s advice on ICD-10.” Being federally mandated is apparently not the only incentive to proceed. Many entities believe they will have to comply at some point, so this delay may have given them extra time to accomplish their goal.

The new ICD-10 coding classification system will have five times the number of codes to use for billing reimbursement as the current ICD-9 does, whenever it goes into affect. Access Innovations’ M.A.I. machine-assisted indexing system and specialists in complex coding, tagging, and indexing can minimize the risk of coding errors with proper training and quality assurance. Many widely used tagging systems lack a user-friendly interface and may not implement a rigorous ANSI-compliant coding subsystem. Access Innovations’ solutions are ANSI-compliant and implement state-of-the-art technology to speed tagging and reduce errors.
