The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services – CMS – is offering healthcare providers reading material as they continue to wait for a final ICD-10 deadline ruling.
This interesting news was found on EHR Intelligence in their article, “ICD-10 transition tips from CMS for small providers.” CMS sent healthcare providers a reminder that the new ICD-10 code set is going to affect nearly every level of a provider’s day-to-day work flow and to assess the greatest areas of impact. They also included a checklist of tips for small providers transitioning to ICD-10. Some of the highlights include: Educating staff and leadership about ICD-10; performing an impact assessment; planning a realistic and comprehensive budget; coordinating with external partners; and lest we forget, testing.
