An estimated 1.8 zettabytes of digital data was created and copied in 2011. This daunting figure is equivalent to over 200 billion two-hour long high-definition movies. And because 75% of this data is created by individuals, that would be equivalent to every person in the United States tweeting three tweets per minute, non-stop, for 26,976 years.

This information was found on Digital Journal in their article, “Content Intelligence for Big Data Management from Smartlogic.” This growth of big data is becoming an urgent issue for organizations in regards to storage and access. Data management has been the subject of a conference series over the last few weeks at Smartlogic, maker and developer of the Semaphore Content Intelligent Platform.
