Even though the term “cloud” is thrown about frequently these days, to many, it is still not clear exactly what the cloud offers, where it, is and how to access it.
This interesting information was brought to our attention by The Register in their article, “Microsoft takes on the private cloud.” Considering it is such an important concept and technology, you would think organizations would take more of an effort to educate potential users.
Microsoft is seeking to move beyond infrastructure as a service (IaaS), through platform as a service (PaaS), past software as a service (SaaS) to foreign lands. Their ability to perform a virtual machine migration from one host to another, while moving the virtual machine’s storage location as well, may be the twist they need to stand out in the crowd.
