Nuix, known for their information management technologies, have been issued a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on core features of the Nuix unstructured data indexing engine.

This interesting news was found, interestingly enough, in the Fort Mill Times in their article, “Nuix Unstructured Data Indexing Engine Receives U.S. Patent Office Recognition of Its Unique Parallel Processing Capabilities.” Their parallel processing approach to unstructured data has been cited as the reason for their rapid growth in the eDiscovery, investigation, and information governance markets.

Managing unstructured data is important, considering that approximately 80% of the data organizations store is unstructured. A complex system is needed to manage and store this large volume. If not managed properly, it isn’t searchable and therefore almost might as well not exist.
