Metadata is not limited to documents and photos, it can also be part of digital music to assist in searching and ultimately locating. So the inaugural Music Industry Metadata Summit organized by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) and digitalmusic.org, is a timely event. The long-expected event is scheduled in Los Angeles on May 6-7, 2013 and is part of NARM’s Music Biz 2013 conference.

This interesting news was found on Billboard Biz in their article, “NARM Announces First-Ever Music Industry Metadata Summit.” The goal of this event is to inform newcomers about the importance of managing information through metadata and provide a forum for music industry executives to find solutions through a variety of workshop sessions. Plus it sounds like it would be an enjoyable “work-related” educational opportunity.
