Setting the Foundation

Social has never been so, well, social. Social search, social media, social enterprise, and now social business. Not everyone may have been on board in the beginning, but now few are ignoring the power of social. Computer World brought this topic to our attention in their article, “At IBM Connect, IT execs talk about betting on enterprise social.”

Enterprise social networking (ESN) software attempts to adapt consumer social media capabilities for workplace settings. Many organizations are looking to make this process simpler and more effective. The ultimate goal is to get the right information at the right time to the right person. This takes solid indexing against a standards-based taxonomy. This sets a foundation of comprehensive data for the social data to reference. It is both that simple and that complicated.
