User profiles play an important role in information retrieval systems. This “revelation” came from a software engineer study, but really, is it a big surprise?

Based on the study, the researchers from East China Normal University propose a new method for the acquisition of ontology-based user profiles. In the method, the ontology-based user profiles can maintain the representations of personal interest, and be automatically constructed. It is expected that this method can make user profiles stronger and require less manual interference.
