The Search War

search, old search to be exact. In a move to challenge Google’s reign as the premier search engine, Apple’s $200 million dollar purchase is intended to provide new levels of recommendations based on Topsy’s data. Don’t scoff at the price, there are billions of dollars in play when you are talking about the game of search. The Business Insider brought this news to our attention in their article, “We Are About To Enter A New War Over ‘Semantic’ Search — A War Google Could  Lose.”

Apple isn’t the only one. Recently, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook was developing a graph search product. Utilizing the trillions of pieces of data contained with Facebook’s walls, he hopes to provide a search option in the future that will compete with Google.
