Big data has challenged organizations in the storage and access arena, and beyond. When it comes to analyzing, reporting, and managing data on spreadsheets, big data can overwhelm the capabilities of products like Excel. Tech Republic brought this interesting information our direction in their article, “Big data spreadsheet products and their potential benefits.”

Microsoft has answered the cry for help with its Data Explorer for Excel 2013 product. The product comes with a mouse click-enabled dashboard that allows users to perform mash-ups of structured data from databases and unstructured data from various sources. This approach is quickly becoming contagious as other providers are following suit with similar offerings.
