Student and former teacher Elizabeth Charlton, who completed her Diploma in Records and Information Management with the Open Polytechnic last year, has been awarded the Ian McLean Wards Scholarship and plans to put it to good use. Scoop brought this very interesting and inspiring news to us in their article, “Student to use scholarship to help community archives.”

The Ian McLean Wards Memorial Trust was established in 2013 as an annual scholarship to assist researchers and practitioners in the librarianship, archives, and records management fields. The scholarship enables the recipient to undertake research for a specific project advancing knowledge or improving practice relating to the recording, care, or conservation, of historical research materials. Elizabeth plans to use her research to create materials specifically focused on the care of digital records.

The important factor of digital indexing is consistency, and what provides consistency? Standards. Access Innovations is one of a very small number of companies able to help its clients generate ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomies.
