There are several webinars and educational opportunities in the works over the next couple weeks with enough variety to find something of interest to you.

The Publishing & Scholarly Publishing (PSP) Journals Committee of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) will be featuring guest speaker Cassidy Sugimoto from Indiana University Bloomington to talk about altmetrics in a webinar being offered on Tuesday, June 7th from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

The PSP Books Committee will be hearing from Tom McElwee, Founder and President, NAVSTEM on Friday, June 10th from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the AAP/New York offices. This session will cover the history and evolution of course materials over the past 20 years, with the goal of explaining how we got here and where we might be going. The discussion will focus on the perspective of publishers, faculty, students and bookstores. The session will also look at general list planning and marketing trends in the current environment, and will conclude with open Q&A.

The PSP Committee for Digital Innovation (CDI) will be hearing from Pat Sabosik and Larry Schwartz to talk about indexing scholarly blogs on Wednesday, June 15th from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. ACI Scholarly Blog Index is a new blog discovery service from the ACI Information Group. At this gathering, you can learn about the value of incorporating authoritative social media into teaching and learning through case studies and see how the best scholarly blogs can be easily integrated into a library’s reference and resource services.
