Interestingly enough, enterprises are using only about 25 percent of their unstructured data for insights and decision-making. A recent survey revealed this, as well as the fact that they are using 35 percent of their structured data for the same purposes. The survey was conducted by Forrester. Their VP and principal analyst, Boris Evelson, reminds everyone that “many steps are involved in text analytics.” These steps include accessing data sources, extracting and processing the data, performing advanced statistical analyses, and interpreting and enriching it with domain knowledge. The value of the analyses is significant, and that is being recognized by more and more companies.
