The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS) is offering webinar-based educational opportunities for 2018.
The first one is titled, “Content Integration: Bridging Knowledge through Technology and Partnerships” and is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. (EST).
Working across multiple databases, rather than within just one, is the desired approach these days. To meet this demand, information providers are building partnerships and developing tools and technologies to enable researchers to do just that. That doesn’t mean there aren’t challenges. Database creation is often designed around specific use cases and taxonomies, without anticipation of melding content with external content sources. Even where a database can be effectively interrogated and content integrated, the tools or rights to mash up content sets may not exist.
During the webinar a panel will explore how information providers are helping their customers work across content sets. Making up the panel with real-life case studies are:
Your Chocolate, My Peanut Butter: JSTOR Labs’ Content Mashups
Alex Humphreys, Associate Vice President, JSTOR and Director, JSTOR Labs at ITHAKA
Building a semantic platform for Life Sciences
Tim Miller, VP Elsevier Life Sciences Platform Solutions, Elsevier
Why Institutional Knowledge and Expertise Matters
Stephen Vinyard, Associate Director of Business Development, IHS
