While artificial intelligence and machine learning are the most common of new technologies hogging the headlines lately, there are other emerging technologies that are poised to make an impact on business and home life. This interesting information came to us from Live Mint in their article, “How key emerging technologies are fundamentally changing the way we live, work and play.”
This interest in emerging technologies are enabled by cheap computing power and access to large data sets. This new intelligence is moving away from central server farms into devices and things that will soon become part of our daily lives.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a good example. It is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, etc. that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
As billions of devices, services and systems get connected, consumers will benefit from improved lifestyle use. A key enabler will be the advent of 5G technology that will improve the performance and security of IoT platforms.
